Lighting Up Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines with Lumascape
Wells Fargo Arena, a premier 17,000-seat venue in Des Moines, Iowa, has long been a hub for major concerts, NCAA basketball, and professional sports. Home to the Iowa Wolves, Iowa Wild, and Iowa Barnstormers, the arena is a centerpiece of the Iowa Events Center and a key destination for entertainment and sports fans throughout the Midwest.
In a recent upgrade, the arena’s exterior received a striking new lighting system designed to elevate its nighttime presence. Lumascape was selected as the specified lighting solution, delivering a dynamic and efficient installation that enhances the architecture while improving operational simplicity.
Precision Engineering Meets Stunning Illumination
The lighting design aimed to dramatically enhance the arena’s visual impact while optimizing installation and long-term performance. More than 300 LS9030 Linear Grazers were used to wash the arena's sweeping roofline in vibrant color. Meanwhile, 75 LS9160 Floodlights brought dynamic illumination to the venue’s vertical architectural bays.
Each fixture was factory pre-addressed for fast deployment, reducing time on site and lowering labor costs. Custom bracketry was also engineered to ensure precise fixture alignment, especially along the curved roofline, guaranteeing optimal light distribution and visual consistency.
Seamless Integration for Dynamic Control
All fixtures were integrated into a central control system that allows for advanced lighting scenes and independent color control across every luminaire. The result is a responsive, flexible lighting solution capable of transforming the arena’s exterior to match events, team branding, or seasonal displays.
